I specialize in the buying and selling of small to medium sized businesses. I follow CGAAP ( Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ) to normalize or recast an income statement and balance sheet using accountant prepared ( Notice to Reader ) financial statements to determine EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes), EBITDA (EBIT + Depreciation and Amortization ) and SDE ( Seller Discretionary Earnings) or FBOO ( Financial Benefit of Ownership ). Using the Pratt's Stats database that contains over 13,000 records of the sale of small to medium businesses we obtain the earnings to sales price ratio's and gross sales to sales price ratio's from a minimum of 10 similar type businesses. Using evaluation formulas we multiply theses ratios by EBIT, EBITDA, SDE, FBOO to determine the MPSP ( Most Probable Sale Price ). This is a tested and proven approach to helping a business owner obtain the most money when trying to sell their business, and also to ensure a buyer is getting value when he or she goes ahead with buying a business.
